Under the name John Masters Organics, the salon quickly gained recognition as the only "clean-air salon" in Manhattan, meaning, they simply would not offer
services - perms, manicures and many kinds of color - that require the use of toxic chemicals.
In ensuing years, the visionary John Masters Organics concept has continued to gather momentum.
In 2001, the salon outgrew its original space and moved to the current Sullivan St.
location.
In the same year, John launched a line of paraben-free, organic facial skin care in response to overwhelming customer demand
and in 2004, the brand was recipient of the coveted Soil Association Award for Best Organic Product Line in Europe.
Today, John Masters Organics is sold in 20 countries. John Masters splits his time between New York City and his country home in upstate New York. He continues to cut and color hair in the SoHo salon and, Maya, his treasured canine companion, is never far from his side. John remains dedicated to developing new products and updating the existing range as more advanced "natural product technologies" become available. His dream is still to provide the, "most organic, most natural product available on the market."
